Lovely Lava Layers

I was reading in the January issue of National Geographic when I came across an article about lava. There’s no doubting that lava is infinitely fascinating for so very many reasons. But this was the first time I really thought about it in a more detailed way, really focusing in on the folds, the bubbles and the many colors. It reminded me of some stock imagery I had recently come across while on the search for some rich textures…

Or this one with it’s ropey layers of shining black with some bright green ferns peeking through the small crack.  A bit of life within the rock…
