OfficePOD

As seen over at Dwell, this new mobile, totally self-contained office unit allows people who work at home an opportunity to have their own office with a view.  It’s called the OfficePOD and is manufactured by a British company for both indoor and outdoor use.  The fully enclosed, 7′x7′  POD could be set in your own background or within an office building for those who desire walls.  For the materials, natural has been selected above man-made and recycled and recyclable products used whenever possible.  The high levels of insulation and innovative cooling system allow the POD to maintain low energy level consumption.

I really like the simplicity of the space and the materials and it reminds me of some things I saw in Germany regarding new styles of mobile home units.  The idea of having a nice little POD with big windows and set within a garden just outside my house sounds pretty nice.  Although the current layout of these things looks more fit for a typical home office versus a designer.  Perhaps the next generation will involve customized furniture to outfit your own personal space.

In looking at a bit of a top view, it looks like it is just begging for a green roof!

OfficePOD...where's the green roof?
