Inversion - open house

This temporary installation is one of my favorites and definitely tops the list for cool things to do with a house that’s about to be demolished. The piece, titled Inversion, was done in 2005 by sculptors Dan Havel and Dean Ruck. The two houses used in the piece were owned by Art League Houston and were slated for demolition to give way to a new building for the Art League. The tunnel is constructed from wood pulled from the houses and passes all the way through to a private courtyard on the other side.

Reminds me of the last scene in Poltergeist. Love looking at this, nice texture and depth. I wonder why this “wormhole” concept hasn’t been used for new construction, or has it?

Poltergeist…ah, good one! I didn’t even think of that! Gotta love that movie.
One of the things I love about this piece in addition to the lovely textural qualities of the reused wood is the mystery and the draw. If I saw that I would immediately want to go right over there and explore it.

Good point on the new construction, man…how cool would that be? I can’t think of anything off the top of my head. Anyone else know of anything in this realm either built or proposed?

that is great; the open house sign is the icing on the cake.
